PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of reducing a height dimension of an overhead part of a hoistway. SOLUTION: This elevator 11 has a car 14 lifting in the hoistway 12, a hoisting machine 16 for driving lifting of the car 14, and a support beam 33 for supporting the hoisting machine 16 in the hoistway 12.
