PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high purity aliphatic tertiary amine having less byproducts in a high yield, by performing the hydrogenation reduction of an aliphatic amide under a non-solvent and mild condition. SOLUTION: This method for producing the tertiary amine comprises reducing the amide compound in the presence of a catalyst containing a sponge copper catalyst obtained by developing and drying alloy particles containing copper and aluminum.
