PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass optical element or the like which is reduced in the fraction defective due to cracks or damages of lens with a frame. SOLUTION: The glass optical element is provided with an annular frame 11, a glass element 15 which is formed by heating, softening and molding a glass element preform in the frame 11, and a buffer layer 12 which is located in contact with the inner periphery of the frame 11 and has a lower hardness than that of the glass element 15, wherein the frame 11 has an equal or larger coefficient of thermal expansion to/than that of the glass element 15, and the buffer layer 12 is, for example, a metal or an alloy containing at least one kind of metals selected from the group consisting of Al, Zn, Cu, In, Ag, Mg and Au.
