PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit with consideration given to arrangement for good weight balance, while compactly forming an engine, in the power unit provided with the engine provided with a cylinder block, a crankcase and a balancer, a transmission casing extending to a rear side from the crankcase of the engine, a V-belt type continuously variable transmission stored in the transmission casing to transmit driving force of the engine to a driving wheel and an electric motor for controlling a driving pulley controlling a groove width of the driving pulley in the V-belt type continuously variable transmission via a driving pulley control portion speed reduction gear mechanism. SOLUTION: In this power unit, a center of the electric motor for controlling the driving pulley, the driving pulley control portion speed reduction gear mechanism and the balancer is arranged between mating surfaces of the cylinder block and the crankcase and a surface which passes through a center of a crankshaft and is in parallel with the mating surfaces in side view.
