PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new atopic disorder model which distinctly has the pathological conditions of atopic dermatitis, especially the three characteristics of (1) biphasic response, (2) cell infiltration in a skin inflammatory lesion, and (3) an increase in serum IgE concentration and can establish them within a short time. SOLUTION: Use of a non-human mammal sensitized by trimellitic acid anhydride, having total serum IgE concentration of 4,000 ng/mL or higher, and suffering from dermatitis induced by the application of trimellitic acid anhydride to the skin as an atopic dermatitis model animal.
