<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative approach for solving ambiguity in time of day when processing for searching a GPS signal to compute the location of a receiver (and exact time of day) takes time, several minutes, additionally any signal received from GPS satellite has too low level in many conditions where the satellite signal is blocked, to make demodulation and readout of the satellite data signals impossible or impractical without errors. <P>SOLUTION: The alternative method comprises a step to receive at least a part of satellite data message in a mobile SPS receiver, a step to determine a first record of at least the part of the satellite data message, and a step to transmit the first record from the mobile SPS receiver to a remote base station for determining the time indicating when the first record is received in the mobile SPS receiver.
