PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of using a high-speed shutter, by reducing the noise and improving the sensitivity, while keeping a required resolution. SOLUTION: A digital camera including an optical zoom lens, an imaging section for photographing an image via the optical zoom lens and a storage section for recording the photographed by the imaging section, comprises an imaging control section for picking up a first image, by setting an optical zoom lens at a tele-side rather than a zoom position when picking up a photographic image at a desired angle of view, and photographing a second image after returning the optical zoom lens to the zoom position when picking up the photographic image; and an image processing section which creates a third image, by thinning the first image so as to obtain pixels as many as pixels in a partial region of the second image, corresponding to the angle of view of the first image, creating a differential image between the partial region of the second image and the third image, to determine the spatial frequency component of the differential image, and performs smoothing processing on the second image in such a kernel size as to cancel spatial frequencies in which the spatial frequency components are distributed.
