PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical element of high quality while reducing a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical element 36 by supplying a resin material 34 into a cavity 33 formed in a mold block 26, and molding the material by heating and pressurizing comprises a first pressing step (stress relieving step) 14 of removing the internal stain and surface defect of the resin material 34 by the heating and pressurizing of the resin material 34, and a third pressing step (shape stabilizing step) 18 of assuring the shape of the optical element 36 by further heating and pressurizing the resin material 34 subjected to the stress relieving step 14.
