PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely drive a motor when executing the forward and reversed arc rotation drive mode of a large drive load in a washing process and a rinsing process in which the drive load becomes large. SOLUTION: Regarding the drive of a rotary drum 4 whose rotary shaft direction is made horizontal or inclined downwards from the horizontal direction from the opened front surface side to the back surface side to be a bottom part, the forward and reversed arc rotation drive mode for alternately repeating quick forward arc rotation and quick reversed arc rotation over 90 degrees and less than 200 degrees is provided. The initial arc rotation in the forward and reversed arc rotation drive mode is started by inversion drive from the reverse activation of performing arc rotation at an angle smaller than an arc rotation angle in the forward and reversed arc rotation drive mode and at a rotating speed lower than the rotating speed in the forward and reversed arc rotation mode in the opposite direction.
