PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit content at a high speed and with appropriate quality, by rapidly setting a band.

SOLUTION: STB 17 is connected to a network and receives the content from a VoD server 12 via one or more networks that include the network. The STB 17 includes a relating information acquiring part 41 for acquiring content relating information, including a bit rate indicative of a band required for transmitting the content, with respect to a plurality of pieces of content; a related information storage part 46 for storing the related information acquired by the related information acquiring part 41; a selection instruction acquiring part 42 for selecting content to be received from the plurality of pieces of content; and a band-setting request part 43 for requesting a PLC master unit 15 for data transmission management in the network, to read the bit rate of the related information of the content, selected by the selection instruction acquiring part 42 from the related information storage part 46 so as to set a band indicated by the read bit rate.
