PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent speed hunting even when in cruise control at a low speed. SOLUTION: This vehicle control device controls the driving force and braking force to be given to a vehicle (10) so that the vehicle body speed is maintained at a target speed. The device includes specifying means (41FR, etc.) to specify the wheel speed of a plurality of wheels provided to the vehicle, respectively, and a computing means (51) to compute an effective wheel speed concerning each wheel speed based on the specified wheel speed. The device also includes a determination means (51) to determine whether or not the wheel speed of each wheel is effective respectively according to whether or not the wheel speed effective speed calculated for each wheel is less than a predetermined speed threshold value, a setting means (51) to reset the target speed to the value exceeding any of the wheel speed effective speed calculated for each wheel according to the determination result by the determination means, and an estimation means (51) to estimate the body speed of the vehicle based on the specified wheel speed.
