PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag for a front passenger seat capable of preventing an air bag in inflation from overly pressing an occupant excessively close to an instrument panel side by a simple constitution and certainly protecting a sitting occupant in the non-close state. SOLUTION: In the air bag 15, a communication hole 22 making an inner side bonding part 60 constituted by bonding inner peripheral edges of a pair of left and right inner panel parts 49R to each other as a peripheral edge is arranged at a center of left and right sides, and a recession part 24 and two projection parts 25R are provided at a rear part side. The air bag 15 has a constitution for completing inflation so as to provide a contact portion 27 for surface-contacting outer surfaces of the inner panel part 49R with each other on the peripheral edge of the communication hole 22. The contact portion 27 has a constitution for suppressing contact in the state in which an internal pressure of the air bag 15 does not fulfill the internal pressure in completion of inflation while maintaining the contact state by the internal pressure itself in completion of inflation of the air bag 15 applied to the outer panel part 36R and the inner panel part 49R.
