PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the processing speed of an apparatus by storing pixel data from an image sensor in a memory that allows fast continuous access, such as an SDRAM, irrespective of the number of pixels. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus writes pixel data acquired in a single read by the image sensor in a scan direction to a predetermined size of continuous memory space in the memory capable of fast access. The image processing apparatus has a counter for counting up a value corresponding to the scan direction location of pixels corresponding to the pixel data read from the memory. The image processing apparatus then reconstructs an image from the pixel data read from the memory which is within a range represented by range information representing a range of effective pixels in the scan direction of the image sensor.
