The apparatus comprises a casing comprising first and second casing members 3,4, hinged together at 5. The casing has apertures at both ends defining an inner sleeve 8, 9, and a linear arrangement of magnetic poles 11 on each casing member. A flexible snake-like member comprising a plurality of pivotally interconnected units 12 is arranged for insertion into the inner surface of the tube 13. The units 12 have a cleaning surface (18,Fig.4) and a plurality of magnetic poles, and they are connected together via I-shaped connectors comprising a cross member and a central connecting rod (17, 16, respectively, Fig.4). When the magnetic poles 11 are moved relative to the plurality of units 12 positioned within the tube, the magnets cause the units to contact and move along the inner surface of the tube, to clean the tube. |
