An alarm device 10 has a temperature sensor monitoring the temperature of a beverage in a vessel, such as a cup or mug 11. The alarm compares the temperature to one or more threshold values and can trigger a sounding means when the temperature passes the threshold. There may be different identifiable sounds for each threshold. The device (figs 1a, 1b) may be provided as a clip 16 with a first arm 14 inside the cup having the sensor means 20 arranged to be in the beverage and a second arm 15 outside the cup having the alarm sounder means 21. The two arms of the clip may have transverse members 18, 19 that may be contoured to follow the walls of the cup. Alternately (fig 3a-b) the alarm sounder 21 and sensor 20 may be integral to the cup or mug. |
