A video apparatus and a method for removing the static electricity are provided to ground a generated electrostatic signal by using a switch, thereby preventing the electrostatic shock and noise from influencing the video apparatus. An interface part(110) connects a video device(100) and an external device(200). A signal processing unit(120) performs the signal processing such as the video decoding, video scaling and audio decoding for a video signal among signals outputted from the interface unit. The first switch part(140) grounds an output signal outputted from the interface part or outputs the output signal to the signal processing unit under the control of a controller(160). The controller determines whether the cable of the interface part is connected and whether the output signal is inputted to the signal processing unit, and then controls the first switch part according to the determined result. |
