A tether for an air bag cushion is provided to protect the shoulder and head of passenger and to relieve the impact when cushion spreads. A tether for an air bag cushion comprises: a cushion(20) spreading by inflowing the gas with an inflator; and a tether arranged inside the cushion and controlling the tension in the development of cushion. The tether includes a perpendicularity tether(30) perpendicularly installed in the inside the cushion and limits the length of the tether developing to the front. The perpendicularity tether guides the development of the cushion upward and limits the front portion development of the cushion.
