A warning system for detecting deviation of a moving vehicle from its path, such as from a marked lane of a road uses a rear-facing video camera(s) 10 to continuously capture road images behind the moving vehicle 300. There may be two cameras 10 positioned at the rear corners of the vehicle (fig 4). An image graphics processor 20 analyzes a static background of the road based from the images and analyzes whether the vehicle deviates from its original path. The processor may check a relative position of the moving vehicle with respect to lane-dividing lines on the surface of the road. The processor may also decides whether any moving object approaches the vehicle. A microprocessor may receive a warning signal to drives an alarm 40 to notify the driver. The system may stop image capture if the vehicle is in a neutral or park gear, or the speed is zero. |
