An image processing apparatus for transmitting a high resolution graphic picture and an image processing method thereof are provided to output a still image having the high resolution without the deterioration of image quality. A decoding part(110) determines whether a received video signal is a moving picture or a still image. If the moving picture is received, the decoding part decodes the moving picture and then converts the resolution of the moving picture into the SD level resolution which is predetermined by the decoding part. But, if the still image is received, the decoding part decodes the still image and then converts the resolution of the still image into the HD level resolution predetermined by a user. A scaler(130) receives the moving picture signal or still image signal outputted from the decoding part, and then converts the format of a received signal into a video signal having a format which can be outputted through a display unit. |
