A data input terminal, such as a thin client, transmits to a server data which has been input by a user. It receives data from the server and displays it. The status of the communication network is determined using the data received from the server. The terminal then uses the status of the network to determine how the input data should be transmitted to the server. The terminal may operate in three modes depending on the status of the network. In the first mode, input data is transmitted to the server. In the second mode, input data is discarded. In the third mode input data is stored on the terminal. When the terminal changes from the third state to the first state, the stored data is transmitted. |
