摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the capacity of a lithium manganese oxide used for a positive electrode. SOLUTION: This battery is provided with a positive electrode containing a transition metal compound oxide, a negative electrode containing lithium metal, a lithium alloy or a carbon material for doping or dedoping, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The transition metal compound oxide is a compound oxide comprising lithium and manganese expressed by the formula LiMnO2. An integrated intensity ratio I1/I2 of a diffraction peak I1 in the maximum integrated intensity existing within a range of 20 deg.<2&theta;<30 deg. to a diffraction peak I2 in the maximum integrated intensity existing within a range of 38 deg.<2&theta;<40 deg. is within a range of 0<I1/I2<0.5 in an X-ray diffraction spectrum of the LiMnO2 measured using the K&alpha; ray of Cu.
