PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase volume energy density by reducing the thickness of a battery and by thinning an electricity generating element. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte battery has a flat and spiral electricity generating element 1 around which a positive electrode 5 with a positive electrode active material layer 9 a formed on both surfaces of a strip positive electrode core body 10 and a negative electrode 6 with a negative electrode active material layer 21 a formed on both surfaces of a strip negative electrode core body 17 are wound through a separator, and the electricity generating element 1 is stored in a laminated outer enclosure 3 which is deformed by a slight rise of an inner pressure of a battery. A positive electrode tab 7 and a negative electrode tab 8 are extended from the positive electrode 5 and the negative electrode 6, respectively, almost perpendicularly to a longitudinal direction of both core bodies 10, 17 and the both tabs 7, 8 are placed with a designated space kept between them. In this case, a part 14 a where active material is not painted and which is longer than a distance between both tabs 7, 8 is formed on at least either one of surfaces of at least either one of both electrodes 5, 6. |
