PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing Mach-Zehnder interferometer, by which an optical path length difference can be set easily and surely. SOLUTION: At the time of manufacturing a Mach-Zehnder interferometer comprising a light source, an optical branching device 19 which branches the light from the light source, and two optical paths 20 and 21 which guide the light rays branched by means of the device 19. The interferometer also comprises an optical multiplexer 22, which multiplexes the two light rays guided through the routes 20 and 21 and a light-receiving device 18, which converts the interference intensity of the light multiplexed by means of the multiplexer 22 into an electrical signal, a light source 15, having a sufficiently shorter coherent length than the light source of the interferometer has, is connected to the branching device 19, instead of the light source and the lengths of both the paths 20 and 21 or the length of either one of the paths 20 and 21 is adjusted so that the output of the light-receiving device 18 may become larger, while the output is observed. |
