Aldimine compound (I) is new. Aldimine compound of formula (I) is new. Either m, y : 1-4; or m+y : 2-5; R 1>6-30C-hydrocarbon, which optionally exhibits a heteroatom, preferably in the form of ether-oxygen or substituted amine compound of formula (II); R 5>2-20C-bivalent hydrocarbon, which optionally exhibits a heteroatom, preferably in the form of ether-oxygen; R 6>1-20C-hydrocarbon; either R 2>, R 3>1-12C-hydrocarbon; or R 2>+R 3>4-20C-bivalent hydrocarbon, optionally replaced by 5-8 membered carbocyclic ring, preferably 6 membered ring; R 4>(m+y)-valenced 2-12C-hydrocarbon, which optionally contains at least a heteroatom, preferably in the form of ether-oxygen or tertiary amine-nitrogen; X : O, S or N-R 7>; R 7>monovalent 1-20C-hydrocarbon, optionally substituted by carboxylic acid ester, nitrile, nitro, phosphonic acid ester, sulfone, sulfonic acid ester or substituted amine compound of formula (III); n : 1-10000; and R 8>(n+1)-valenced hydrocarbon, optionally heteroatom, preferably in the form of ether-oxygen or tertiary-amine-nitrogen and optionally active hydrogen in the form of hydroxyl group, secondary amino group or mercapto group. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an aldimine compound of formula (X), obtained by cyclizing (I); (2) an aldimine-containing compound, obtained by reacting (I) with a compound D, that carries more than a reactive group, which groups with the XH addition reaction; (3) use of (I) or an aldimine-containing compound as source of an aldehyde (IV) of formula (R 1>-C(O)-O-CH-C(R 2>)(R 3>)-C(O)) or amine of formula ([H 2N] m-R 4>-[XH] y); and (4) a procedure for the hydrolysis of (I) or the aldimine-containing compound.
