A method for selectively removing a propionic acid from acrylic acid stream is provided to use a propionic acid reducing catalyst which is used to manufacture the acrylic acid monomer of high purity. A method for selectively removing a propionic acid from acrylic acid stream comprises a step for reacting acrylic acid stream in the presence of the propionic acid reduction mixed metal oxide catalyst including the mixed metal oxide of the chemical formula 1: A_aM_bN_cX_dZ_eO_f. In the chemical formula 1, A is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mo and W; M is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of V and Ce; N is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Te, Sb and Se; X one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Nb, Ta, Ti, Al, Zr, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ni, Pt, Sb, Bi, B, In, As, Ge, Sn, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Hf, Pb, P, Pm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu; Z is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Zn, Ga, Ir, Sm, Pd, Au, Ag, Cu, Sc, Y, Pr, Nd and Tb; O is the oxygen of the oxide type; b = 0.01-1.0, c = 0.01-1.0, d = 0.01-1.0, e = 0-0.1 assuming a = 1; and f depends on the oxidation state of the other elements. |
