A secondary battery is provided to prevent the short circuit of a battery caused by electrical contact of a can and an electrode tap and the accidents like the explosion of a secondary battery, and to improve the structural stability of the secondary battery. A secondary battery(1) comprises an electrode assembly(10), a can(20) accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap assembly(30) and an insulating part(40). The electrode assembly compries a separator(13) between a positive electrode(11) and a negative electrode(12) and is adhered with an electrode tab for the electrical lead to the positive electrode and negative electrode. The cap assembly comprises a cap plate(31) sealing the open side of the can and is connected to the electrode tap of any one electrode. The insulating part is formed in the inner surface of the can in order to block the electrical connection of the electrode tap connected to the can and electrode terminal. |
