The opposite right and left side edges of a sheet film are respectively grasped by variable-pitch right and left clips of which the longitudinal direction clip pitches vary as the clips travel and move, positions (AR, AL) at which longitudinal direction clip pitches start to expand are made to be different with respect to the traveling direction of the sheet film between the right-side clip and the left-side clip, and the pitches in the longitudinal direction of the clips are expanded as the clips travel and move to thereby effect oblique stretching.
