A timing generating unit(85) sets up a setting period which is shorter than a blanking period during the blanking period of video data. Switches(81A-81C) multiplex audio data for an overlapped period which corresponds to the difference between the blanking period of video data and the setting period set by the timing generating unit and is prepared after the setting period. Encoders(83A-83C) encode the video data, obtained by multiplexing the audio data through the switches, into data having bits more that those of the video data, and then transmit the encoded data to a data channel.
