A method of performing a polling procedure in a wireless communication system is provided to prevent unexpected communication interruption by performing polling at a proper time. In a method of performing a polling procedure in a wireless communication system, an AM RLC(Acknowledged Mode Radio Link Control) entity confirms whether the state of a transmission buffer(S61) and confirms data to be transmitted to a receiver is stored at a transmission buffer(S62). If data to be transmitted to the receiver is stored at the transmission buffer, the AM RLC entity sets polling field as 0(S66), if not the AM RLC entity confirms the state of retransmission buffer(S63). If data to be transmitted to the receiver is not stored at the retransmission buffer, the AM RLC entity set the polling field as 1(S65).
