An array substrate for a liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to protect a channel by inorganic insulating materials having good film properties, thereby preventing a thin film transistor from abnormally operating due to an off current. A source electrode(132) is extended to a data line(130). A drain electrode(134) is separated from the source electrode. A semiconductor layer comprises an ohmic contact layer(141) and an active layer(140). The active layer is made of pure amorphous silicon. The ohmic contact layer is made of amorphous silicon having impurity. The first and second semiconductor patterns(140b) are in the data line and a lower part of a data pad. Passivation films(155) are on the source and drain electrodes, the data line and an upper part of the data pad. |
