A low current detecting circuit of an inverter is provided to prevent malfunction of a backlight by recognizing a state of the inverter clearly. A controller(300) outputs PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal for operating a lamp(100) to an inverter(200). The inverter corresponds to the PWM signal outputted from the controller and supplies the boosted voltage to a voltage level for driving a lamp to the lamp. The lamp is turned on by the voltage supplied to the inverter and performs an operation of the backlight with predetermined brightness. A low current detection circuit(400) compares the output current of the inverter with the predetermined reference current. The low current detection circuit outputs the informing signal that is a comparison result. A state output unit(500) transmits the state signal representing an operation state of the inverter according to the informing signal outputted from the low current detection circuit to an A/D board inside a TV set.
