METHODS FOR REQUESTING BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION AND ALLOCATING BANDWIDTH IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for requesting bandwidth allocation and allocating a bandwidth in a communication system are provided to combine a basic CID with a private CID to request bandwidth allocation, thereby removing a CID update process during handover. A connection identifier(CID) performing a bandwidth allocation request is detected. When the detected CID is one, a field having an area in which the first CID is recorded and an area recording ranks taken by a CID to perform bandwidth allocation in a CID list arranged according to predetermined standards is generated. The first CID shows identification information of a mobile station. The generated field is transmitted to a base station. An uplink bandwidth request header includes an HT(Header Type) field(201), an EC(EnCoding) field(203), a type field(205), an individual CID index field(207), bandwidth request fields(209, 211), basic CID fields(213, 215) and HCS(Header Check Sequence) field(217).
