A process for preparing a cylindrical battery is provided to minimize the loss of the internal space and to increase the battery capacity by preventing the downward deformation of the beading portion in a sizing process, and to improve the safety of a battery by blocking the internal short due to downward deformed beading portion. A process for preparing a cylindrical battery comprises a step of inserting a jelly-roll(110) within a cylindrical can(200); a step of forming a beading portion(210); a step of injecting electrolyte; a step of mounting a cap assembly; and a step of sealing the battery can by crimping. A process pressurizing the top of battery for securing the wide internal space of battery cell compared with the identical standard is performed with a process forming the beading portion at the same time, or successively.
