An apparatus and a method detecting an image object and a recording medium thereof are provided to detect an object in an image by performing labeling technique effectively with small memory and simple calculation. An image object detecting apparatus comprises the followings: a detecting unit(210) detecting a value of a surrounding pixel based on the labeled pixel; a labeling unit(220) determining existence of a value of a binary image on the value of the surrounding pixel and converting the value of label into a new label value or the surrounding pixel; and a detection object determining unit(260) determining a detection object by using a statistical calculation value in which the label value is given.
