A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to take the ice or water out of the dispenser by controlling the dispenser with voice when the display device is separated from the refrigerator door. A refrigerator comprises a dispenser(30) arranged in a door, a display device removably arranged in the door, a voice recognition unit(133) arranged in the door and recognizing the voice of user, and a controller(140) comparing the audio frequency acknowledged in the voice recognition unit with the stored frequencies and controlling the dispenser according to the matching frequency. The controller controls the dispenser to eject the kind of food corresponding to the frequency matching with the voice frequency when the display device is separated from door. In the display device, an input unit(134) for manipulating the dispenser is arranged.
