A media connection control method and a device thereof are provided to enable a media gateway controller to select a codec according to a QoS(Quality of Service) policy by performing a code negotiation process based on a codec setting policy. If an originating request is performed from the first media gateway(200) for maintaining the first codec control policy, a connection setting command including information with regard to the first codec control policy is transmitted to the first media gateway. A response signal including the information of the first codec control policy is received from the first media gateway. The received information with regard to the first codec control policy is compared with information with regard to the second codec control policy of the second media gateway(300). A media stream is transmitted or received to the first media gateway and the second media gateway according to a determined codec method based on the comparison result. |
