An automatic stopping unit of a paper shredder is provided to shred papers with staples in no need of stopping the paper shredder to remove staples from the paper which requires to be shredded. An automatic stopping unit of a paper shredder comprises a sudden stopping unit, a shredding unit(B), a document loading table(1), a support protrusion(4), a lifting plate(2), and a sudden stopping sensor(5). Documents to be shredded are loaded on the document loading table to face toward the shredding unit. The support protrusion supports the documents to be shredded. The sudden stopping sensor senses whether documents to be shredded are prepared or not.
