A method and a system for providing an application service during broadcast waiting time by outputting a contents image are provided to implement the application by a user by providing contents image related to the application during data broadcasting waiting time. An application server(206) manages and registers data for data broadcasting service and an application. The application server unites data and application. A contents image generating server(208) produces the contents image by using combined data for the application. Data are provided when the user demands the application service. The broadcasting reception terminal outputs the contents image to data broadcasting waiting time.
