A portable terminal connecting a secure digital card to a receptacle terminal and an external device interfacing method using the same are provided to mount the external memory and prevent the inconvenience according to the limitation of a memory size. A socket(171) connects an adapter(200) for performing interface with one or more external device. A switching unit switches the connection of an adaptor connected to the socket. A memory stores identification number of the external device mounted to the adapter. A controller recognizes clearly one or more external device mounted to adapter according to the signal delivered through the switching unit. The controller produces the control signal for receiving one or more signal.
