The method involves modifying a parameter of a shed associated to a weave pick with respect to nominal shed parameter for a harness. Each thread carried by the harness is positioned in an upper position with respect to an upper weft inserting chute (T1) or in a lower position with respect to a lower weft inserting chute (T2) such that resulting effort exerted on an upper fabric lap (N1) includes vertical components (R1, R2) that are directed opposite to a lower fabric lap (N2), where the effort is exerted by threads of a pile warp and threads of filling and chain warps (24, 26). An independent claim is also included for a double turn carpet loom for forming fabric laps.
