PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content reproduction device and a method for it capable of properly performing content reproduction control based on copyright information when a plurality of kinds of copyright information are detected from a disk or the like. SOLUTION: In an electronic watermark detector as the content reproduction device, detection of watermark information is tried from respective blocks constituting the content. A result storage means 401 stores result information comprising the detected watermark information and frequency information showing an appearance frequency of the watermark information. Every time when the watermark information is detected from the respective blocks, a comparison means 402 compares the detected watermark information with that in the result information and carries out collation to a predetermined condition to decide whether update of the result information is necessary or not.
