PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal having improved a sense of sound volume of a speaker by enlarging a back space of the speaker without expanding a casing, as a sliding type portable terminal. SOLUTION: A first casing 20 equipped with a first portion 21 formed in a step shape and a second portion 22 thicker than the first portion 21 and a second casing 30 equipped with a third portion 31 formed in a step shape and a fourth portion 32 thicker than the third portion 31 are linked by a linking section 11 so as to move in a sliding fashion, and therefore when the first casing 20 and the second casing 30 are opened by moving in a sliding fashion, air gaps 39, 39a are formed between both casings 20, 30. A back space 37 of a speaker 35 provided in the first casing 20 or the second casing 30 is communicated with the air gaps 39, 39a, so that the back space 37 of the speaker 35 is enlarged and the sense of sound volume of the speaker 35 can be improved.
