PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical pickup device and a method for assembling the same which facilitate adjustment of an optical element. SOLUTION: A fork-shaped support part J1 of a jig J is inserted so as to be guided by a flat part 13c and positioned below a flange part 13b. Then, as shown in Fig. 5, the support part J1 of the jig J is engaged with the lower surface of the flange part 13b, so that a holder 13 is held against the gravity by raising the jig J as it is.
