PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily manufacturing a long ND filter having a plurality of absorption type multilayer films disposed on a long resin film base while leaving a portion where no film is formed, by using a roll-to-roll vacuum film forming device. SOLUTION: The method includes: a sticking process of sticking a long masking film to at least one surface of a long resin film base so as to block the long resin film base except for a portion exposed through a plurality of apertures formed in the long masking film; and a film forming process of forming an absorption type multilayer film by using a roll-to-roll vacuum film forming device in a portion exposed through the apertures of the long resin film base to which the long masking film is stuck.
