The present invention provides a process for producing a gamma-glutamylamide compound, which comprises forming the gamma-glutamylamide compound from a glutamyl donor and an amine compound using gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase, preferably gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase derived from a microorganism, or a culture of cells having the enzyme or a treated culture as an enzyme source.
