A microcontroller (109a-109n) or controlling an actuator (109a-109n) includes a single wire controller (220) configured to receive datq and power from a base station (105) through a single wire bus (230), where the single wire bus (230) is part of a power and signal cable (111) configured to connect the microcontroller (109a-109n) to the base station (105). The microcontroller (109a-109n) also includes a PIC microcontroller (202) configured to transmit data signals to and receive data signals from the single wire controller (220), there the PIC microcontroller (202) is configured to receive reduced voltage level from a powerwire of the power and signal cable (111), to measure the voltage level and to communicate the measured voltage level to the base station (105) through the single wire bus (230).
