Particulate filter regeneration method for automotive diesel exhaust system involves injecting fuel upstream of filter, causing fuel to oxidize and temperature to rise at downstream end, sensing temperature change, and adjusting fuel amount
摘要

Fuel is injected to the exhaust flow (150) upstream of the filter (200). Injected fuel causes oxidation and a rise of filter temperature. Temperature rise is initiated at a downstream end of the filter. A temperature change is sensed in response to fuel oxidation. Amount of fuel is adjusted to increase the temperature of the filter above a defined threshold from downstream to upstream ends to oxidize soot and to regenerate the filter. An operational parameter indicative of complete filter regeneration is sensed. Further injection of the fuel is prevented in response to the sensed parameter. An independent claim is included for a control system for regenerating a particulate filter.
