<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump control device for an internal combustion engine, wherein, when a trouble makes it impossible to normally control the energization of a solenoid to drive a flow control valve which controls the discharge amount of fuel from a high pressure fuel pump, the event is avoided that the solenoid is always in an energized condition resulting in an excessive amount of fuel continuously discharged from the high pressure fuel pump to keep fuel pressure to be supplied to a fuel injection valve continuously in excessively high condition. <P>SOLUTION: A control device 100 which includes a solenoid control means 101 for computing energizing timings SK, SH for an over-exciting current and a holding current to be output, and a drive mechanism 200 which includes a solenoid driving circuit 201 for energizing the solenoid 12 in accordance with the energizing timings SK, SH are separately constructed in a casing. A fail-safe means 103 temporarily cuts off a power supply for the driving mechanism 200 after prohibiting the energization of the over-exciting current IK, when a trouble occurs in an electric wire for the holding current IH. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
