PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precursor for polyimide which has a structure of following formula (1) and to provide polyimide prepared from the precursor. SOLUTION: The precursor for the polyimide has the structure of formula (1) (in the formula, R represents a 1-14C linear or branched alkyl, a 6-14C aryl or aralkyl or an ethylenically unsaturated group, R<SB>x</SB>each independently represents H or an ethylenically unsaturated group, G each independently represents a tetravalent organic group and P each independently represents a bivalent organic group and (m) is an integer of 0-100).
