PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut down cost by commonizing a protection part and a key button, and performing high-density arrangement of the protective part and the key button along the thickness direction of a cabinet so that many terminals and key buttons can be arranged on the side face. SOLUTION: A portable electronic device 1 includes a first cabinet 2, in which a circuit board 21 is provided, a second cabinet, a connection terminal 4 arranged to be exposed from an opening formed at the first cabinet 2 to the outside for connecting electrically the circuit board 21 and an exterior device, and a key operation unit for receiving operation by an operator. A terminal cover 61 for covering the connection terminal 4 from the outside in a removable state, and an elastic forming member 6 for unifying the first cabinet 2 with the opening formed thereon, and a side key (key button) 5 of the key operation unit arranged on the face of the second cabinet are provided. The elastic forming member 6 is mounted on the first cabinet 2 and the side face 2e of the second cabinet.
